Press-fitting is faster on site, provided you use the right jaw profiles and check the insertion depth. For bends, the bending radius must respect the minimum, or you risk crushing and a loss of flow rate in the network.
Limits to know: material cost, theft, compatibility and galvanic corrosion
Copper costs more and its price can fluctuate. It also attracts theft on site. On the technical side, watch metal compatibility. Contact between copper and galvanised steel or aluminium, without a dielectric fitting, can trigger galvanic corrosion. In a closed network, suitable water treatment and dielectric fittings limit unpleasant surprises.

PEX is the choice when you need a network that's very flexible and quick to run. It passes easily through wall linings, suspended ceilings, crawl spaces, and suits manifold-based distribution in houses well. It's also common in underfloor heating, and in light renovation when you want to limit wall chasing.
Fittings and tools: push-fit, press-fitting, manifolds and bending radii
On the fittings side, press-fit or push-fit solutions dominate. Have the right tool, the correct calibres, and check the insertion. In distribution, the manifold simplifies balancing and interventions. Respect the bending radius stated by the manufacturer to avoid kinking, using a spring or a bending tool if needed.
What to watch: long-term durability, oxygen, fixings and installation rules
For heating, check for an oxygen barrier, or watch out for corrosion of metal components. Protect PEX from UV and impacts, and take care with fixings to limit noise and movement. Avoid fittings in inaccessible areas, and carry out a pressure test according to standard practice.
